This week’s historical tidbit comes from the Williamstown Historical Society.
"From King's Town to Williamstown: A Royal Rebranding!"
On March 29, 1837, during Governor Bourke's visit, the bustling port originally known as 'King's Town' received a regal rebranding, officially becoming Williamstown in honor of King William IV.
This rechristening marked a significant milestone in the area's development, solidifying its identity as Melbourne's primary port and paving the way for its rich maritime heritage.
Foodie Corner: Stella Pizza in Altona
If you haven’t been to Stella Pizza in Altona recently, I suggest giving it a try.
People rave about their wood-fired pizzas – especially the Margherita – which sounds like a perfect combo of fresh ingredients and that delicious charred crust. The outdoor seating looks like a great spot to relax with friends on a nice day, and the whole place has a warm, welcoming vibe.
Their pasta dishes also get a lot of love, with the carbonara often mentioned as a favourite.
If you’re in the area and craving good Italian, Stella Pizza seems like a solid choice. Let me know how it is if you try it before I do!

“Zoux is my go-to spot whenever I’m in Williamstown! The açai bowls are always super fresh and packed with fruit – you can tell everything’s made to order. I usually grab a smoothie or an oat latte with it, and it never disappoints.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and even when it’s busy, they get your order out pretty quick. It’s got a nice chill vibe too – a few tables out front, perfect for a quick catch-up or solo breakfast. Highly recommend if you’re into healthy food that actually tastes amazing!”
