🧃Western Suburbs Events: April 8th - 14th

Good morning, westies.
It’s the first week of the school holidays and there’s no better time to explore everything our vibrant western suburbs have to offer.
From pop-up markets and free kids' activities to outdoor adventures and local footy, this week is packed with ways to keep the whole family entertained. Whether you're planning to stay local or looking for ideas to fill the break, we’ve rounded up the best events, hidden gems, and community happenings across Williamstown, Werribee, Footscray, Yarraville, and beyond.

Local Business Recommendation: Sammy's Bakehouse Cafe
This week’s recommendation is from me. If you have a business you would like to recommend, fill this form out.
If you read last week’s newsletter, you’d know that I’m currently on parental leave. Basically, this means two things:
If you see some guy with a big grin on his face, pushing a pram around Williamstown at 8:00am, when everyone else is off to work, it’s probably me.
I’m getting a lot of time to suss out some local eats.
Yesterday, we were in Newport, and went to Sammy’s Bakehouse on Mason street for some lunch after an appointment. I have to admit, I’m not much of a ‘take a photo of my food’ type, so here’s a post from the Visit Newport Insta feed.
The selection was really good. You’ve got your bakery classics along with some great eastern items such as Burek, Calzone (I had the calzone with the lot and it was very good), lamb mince topped flatbread/pizza. They’ve even got a big oven there to quickly heat your food up again if that’s what you’re after.
There was some free samples on offer too, and that sold me on one of their sweet bagels/donuts.
I can’t say I’ve price-compared bakeries in the area, but that feels like a decent price today when it’s basically impossible to eat anywhere for under $25 a head.
It was all great. Will definitely go back.
On top of that, the prices were, in my opinion, really good.
There was two of us (well, three if you include the baby) eating. Between us, we got a Calzone, a Burek, a coffee scroll, a sweet bagel, and two coffees; all for $33!

What’s on This Week
There’s plenty on this week. As you can imagine, being the first week of school holidays (how quick did that term go, by the way!) there’s plenty on to keep the kids busy.
On top of that, there’s plenty of events for all ages.
